In order to maintain a consistent and healthy learning process, and to continuously produce positive out-come from the lessons, there are some basic principles that all parents and students need to follow. Should you have any question or concern, please discuss with the teacher.
DISCOVERY SESSION
At Walnut Music, the Discovery Session is offered at no cost for perspective students to learn about the studio and to meet the teacher. I suggest that parents should stay in during the session. Please contact the studio for your free Discovery Session.
LESSONS & CANCELLATIONS
Please be on time for your lessons. In the event of your lateness, you will only be instructed for the remaining of your lesson time.
Students are responsible for their lesson’s materials, students should always come to class with the required materials.
Students are required to keep their finger nails short and clean in order to play with proper technique. Please check and cut your nails before coming to the class so you don't have to spend your lesson time to do so.
Students are expected to attend their lessons regularly in order to maintain a steady progression, missing many classes will interrupt their learning process and results negative effects in students' study. Each student can have up to 3 make-up lessons per annual, any missed lesson there after will be financially responsible by the student without credit, refund or make-up lesson in any circumstance.
Notice of lesson cancellation is required 24 hours prior to the lesson time in order to receive make-up sessions subject to the teacher's availability. All cancellation notices received less than 24 hours will result no make-up class and the lesson fee will still be applied.
If a student wishes to discontinue or to take a break from the lessons, one month of notification is required.
HOMEWORK & PRACTICE
Practice is mandatory. Students are required to practise at least 30 minutes a day for beginners and progressively increase practice time according to their levels and individual abilities. A student should always follow the teacher's instructions and advices written in the note-book at all times in order to practise effectively to improve his or her techniques and musical expressions.
Every student is expected to participate in the studio's Annual Piano Recital which normally takes place at the end of the year. Students are suggested to obtain the production of the recitals for review and future references.
Competitions are available to students who are interested and recommended by the teacher.
LESSON FEES & PAYMENTS
Lesson payments are required to be made in the 1st lesson of each month or term. Please note that all returned cheques will be resulted in additional bank service fees.
Please be advised that lesson fees are not subject to be negotiated. Lesson fees can not be refunded or credited to the next month due to student's cancellations under any circumstance
Students are responsible to obtain their own study materials. If the students required additional assistance on book purchases, please inform the teacher.
HOLIDAYS
Holiday breaks will be arranged and informed by the teacher.
Students are allowed to take 2 consecutive weeks off per year for vacation at their choice of time without lesson fee being charged and please inform the teacher at beginning of that month or term . Any other unattended lessons will be considered as students' cancellations with applied policies.
Students who are not coming for 3 consecutive weeks without notification will lose their reserved lesson times.
